But before all these, before Roddy Ricch worked with Meek Mill and received endorsements from Dj Mustard, Ebro, Nipsey Hussle, RJ, and 03 Greedo, before his song "die young" would be played more than 5.78 million times on Soundcloud and more than 10 million times on YouTube....

...before Roddy Ricch would release songs like "chase tha bag," "hoodricch," and "Be 4 tha fame," he was merely a bystander watching an amigo show. However, he has emerged as one of the most well-known up-and-coming rappers to come out of the west coast. His song "die young" exploded off of Soundcloud, began receiving radio play, and quickly went global.

Because he doesn't have face tattoos or dye his hair, Roddy Ricch stands out from the crowd of soundcloud rappers nowadays. Additionally, because he recently left Compton, he has a rawness and experience from dealing with some of the harsher aspects of street life. He also refers to himself as an urban illustrator.

EARLY LIFE

In Compton, California, on October 22, 1998, Rodrick Wayne Moore Jr. was born. He attended Compton High School and was raised in a Christian household.

Roddy prefers to keep his early years private, however he did share his affinity for weisse. He mentioned how his Louisiana-born grandmother introduced him to southern culture.

Early visits to the neighborhood church with Roddy's mother and grandmother served as the catalyst for the development of his musical interests. He frequently hung out with Kendrick Lamar there.

He claimed to have predicted Lamar's explosion before it actually happened. He claimed to be aware of this due to Lamar's demeanor and thinking capacity. He claimed that musicians like Lamar inspired him to consider being lyrical.

The likes of Young Thug, Future, Gucci, and local hero Eazy are further musical influences. Speaker Knockerz, a rising rapper from South Carolina who tragically killed away in 2014, is another artist he greatly admires. However, Speaker Knockerz' friends and family have now gotten in touch with Roddy, and they have informed him that they enjoy his music and can hear the impact from Knockerz in his music.

Naturally, growing up in Compton involved more than simply going to church; young Roddy became involved in street life and, when questioned by Cheese TV, replied that he hung out with the rough crowd.

He actually belonged to the Park Village Compton Crips, as evidenced by the two "C"s tattooed on his body, which stand for his past membership in the gang.

HIS MUSIC CAREER.

Roddy has been rapping for eight years now, and "push it to the limit" by Rick Ross was the first song he ever started spinning to. But when he was younger, he wasn't yet certain that music would be a viable source of income. This was because he observed several young men working as artists, but they weren't earning enough money to buy bread or a Ferrari.

Two significant occurrences would now follow, changing everything. First of all, when he was about 15 or 16, he was expelled from his mother's home. The child was hungry ever since he took to the streets.

In songs like "baby boy (struggles)," he rapped on these harder times, and the youngster endured a difficult 16th year. Given the financial situation then, Roddy turned to a life of crime.

In November 2017, Roddy would release his debut project, "feed tha streets," but before he could reap the rewards of his labor, his street hustling would catch up with him, and he would be imprisoned for a few weeks.

While in prison, he was somewhat astonished when an inmate told him that he had been giving to his music. This was because he had only just dropped it few weeks earlier.

Roddy, who detested the smell of jail, found it to be a harsh wake-up call. He claimed that prison is weak and that it provided the drive he needed to begin actively pursuing a career in music.

Additionally, the longer he was imprisoned, the more he understood how well-liked he had become.

Naturally, he already had the appropriate connections; he knew boys who owned studios and they were aware of his significant potential. He could actually finish a song in 25 to 30 minutes and literally finish five or six in a single night.

What he rapped about also had a rawness and a realness to it. He made the decision to be open about the realities of street life since he had friends who were imprisoned or who had passed away. Speaking on behalf of his uncles, cousins, and homies who are unable to rap for themselves, he describes himself as an illustrator of the streets.

The song "Die Young" was recorded in July of 2018 and initially uploaded to Soundcloud. From there, it went viral and he became incredibly popular.
