Khaby Lame is a high profiled tik-toker, fascinating the entire globe without ever saying a word.

He likes to respond to some of the wackiest life hack advice on the internet, and his content is frequently pure simplicity. This has caused the native of Senegal with Italian citizenship to become a worldwide sensation after he dethroned Gianluca Vacci, who had approximately 17 million followers overall and previously held the title of Italy's King of Tik Tok.

Since then, his fan base has expanded significantly, enabling him to compete with other prominent talents like Charlie D'Amelio for a spot among the top 50 performances on the platform, where he currently holds the top spot.

But before Khaby Lame would amass over 170,000 followers on Twitter, nearly 75 million followers on Instagram, and is currently closing in on 140 million followers on tik tok, before he would become the most followed tik-toker in all of Italy and even globally... Here is a quick account of his early years.

Khabane Lame was born on March 9th, 1999 in the Ziguinchor neighborhood  of Senegal's capital city Dakar. Senegal is a nation in west Africa.

When he was just a year old, his parents moved to Turin, Italy and set up residence in a nearby social housing complex. Despite the fact that most Italians do not have a particularly favorable opinion of these lower-class neighborhoods, Khaby is aware that without his upbringing he would not be the guy he is today.

"I owe public housing everything", he told CDS. "They gave me knowledge and gave me the chance to develop many relationships". He attended high school at Chavasso Dimitrio Cosola, where he played football with his mates on the playground.

Even though Khabane loved living in Italy, after the covid-19 epidemic hit in 2020, life drastically slowed down. In fact, he quickly discovered that adhering to his nation's stringent social distance laws was making him quite bored.  Khaby moved his focus to tiktok in search of an entertaining activity to keep him occupied.

"I opened my profile because I didn't know what to do when I was confined at home during the lockdown", he told CDS, and the rest is history.

Khaby posted his debut tik-tok on March 15, 2020, in which he demonstrates how to wash your hands correctly with sanitizer while having fun. In the end, it wasn't an overnight sensation. Khaby amassed close to 1 million followers after running this channel for a year, which is pretty freaking impressive.

In reality, that specific video only garnered about 11,000 likes over the course of a year, but Khaby persisted, subtly tweaking his strategy until he struck it rich in less than a year.

He later posted a video on difficult phone chargers, on February 7, 2021, and it rapidly gained over 4.6 million likes and 29 000 comments.

Today, that video has received over 100 million likes, so fast forward. His internet reputation has skyrocketed, in large part because of a straightforward formula for producing content without ever speaking a word. He reminds me of Mr. Bean or the tik tok Charlie Chaplin.

Khaby responds jokingly in the bulk of his videos to online instructions that overstate the complexity of processes that should be considerably simpler. One of his most popular videos, in which he demonstrates the simplest method to peel a banana, serves as a prime illustration of this.

 So why is khaby silent?

It was a very clever justification. Actually, it is because by not speaking, he exposes his content to a global market. People adore the look of disdain he gives the camera at the end of almost every video because it perfectly captures his reactions and facial expressions. Like the face is literally visible through the mask. It's amazing!

Without a doubt, this method plays a significant role in why he is the best performer on tik-tok and one of the most well-liked influencers in other countries, such as Brazil.

In other words, even though khaby doesn't speak their language, everyone can understand him. View for view, his numbers are reflecting this pattern and steadily increasing.

Though he knows there is still a lot of work to be done, he is content for the moment to be known as the king of Italian tik tok. In the future, he hopes to expand onto other platforms like Twitch and YouTube. Being the first in Italy, he told CDS, is fantastic.

"Although I want to continue to develop, my main objective has always been to make people laugh. Despite the hourly increase in followers, I'll operate as if I've always had a thousand ".

That kind of work ethic will go a long way for Khaby.
